Roscoe Sandlin holds a B.A. in economics from Yale University, a Master of Public Administration from Suffolk University in Boston, and a Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School in Boston.

Before entering the practice of law, Mr. Sandlin served as a diplomat for the U.S. Foreign Service in the Congo, Ghana, and Tunisia. His primary mission was political and economic reporting, as well as representing the interests of American citizens and businesses in the area. Mr. Sandlin speaks French, with a smattering of Arabic and Swahili.

Mr. Sandlin left the Foreign Service to establish a development and homebuilding company that specialized in custom log homes. He built residential subdivisions and over a hundred homes.

He served as county manager in Georgia (where counties operate more like New England towns), directing municipal operations for 30,000 residents. He supervised twelve departments and three hundred employees.

After installing a computer system in the county, Mr. Sandlin started a software company that specialized in municipal software. He sold that company and served in senior management positions for two other software firms before entering the practice of law.

Mr. Sandlin is a member of the American Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, and the Berkshire County Bar Association. He is a certified mediator.
